I had the pleasure to make this incredibly fine and detailed bird drawing for a client in 2021. The little bird’s bushy plumage was a special challenge that required a lot of patience. I built up the motif step by step in many fine layers of graphite and repeatedly erased feathers. The details of the feathers were only possible thanks to the larger-than-life depiction of the bird and the client’s extremely sharp photo. After many hours of work, the illusion of a soft plumage was created.
